Privacy Policy

Nakshatra is built and run by Preetam Ptwo. This page explains what we collect when you use it, who else processes it, how long we keep it and how to remove it.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address, a password (handled by our sign-in provider, Supabase, so we cannot read it) and the display name you choose.
  • Birth details: date of birth, time of birth (or the range you give if you are unsure), place of birth with its coordinates and timezone. We need these to calculate your chart.
  • Your chart and settings: the chart we calculate, plus your reading mode, language and chart style.
  • What you do in the app: questions you ask Jyoti and the answers, saved answers, daily entries and reflections, and feedback on readings.
  • Technical records: request counts used for rate limits, AI request logs (which feature, which model, how long, whether it succeeded, token counts, but not the text of your questions or answers), and basic interaction events (page, event name, device type).

How we use it

To calculate your chart, write readings and answers grounded in it, remember your progress, keep the service within fair-use limits, and find and fix faults. We do not sell your data, show advertising or build advertising profiles.

AI providers

When you ask for a reading or chat with Jyoti, our server sends the request to an AI provider, OpenRouter (which routes it to the model provider) or Google AI Studio, depending on how the service is configured. The request contains your question, recent conversation, the facts we calculated from your chart, and your profile details: display name, birth date, birth time and birth place. It does not contain your email address or password.

Those providers process the request under their own terms and privacy policies. Do not put anything in a question that you would not want a third-party AI provider to process.

Other services that handle your data

  • Supabase stores accounts and the database.
  • Our hosting provider serves the app and runs its scheduled cleanup job.
  • When you search for a birthplace, the text you type is sent from our server to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. Your browser does not contact it directly.
  • Chart calculations run on our own server. They are not sent to an astrology service.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser also keeps a cache of your chart, settings and recent AI results so pages load quickly. Signing out clears it.

How long we keep it

  • Chat messages: deleted automatically after 90 days.
  • AI request logs: deleted after 90 days.
  • Interaction events: kept for 30 days.
  • Rate-limit counters: kept for about two days.
  • Everything else (profile, chart, saved answers, daily entries): until you change or delete it, or delete your account.

Your choices

You can edit your birth details and settings at any time. To delete your account, go to Settings, choose Delete account and type DELETE. This permanently removes your profile, chart, chats, readings, saved answers and sign-in. It cannot be undone. Backups held by our database provider may take a short time to age out.

Who can see your data

Rows in the database are protected so that a signed-in account can read only its own records. A small number of administrators can see account details (email, display name, birth details and sign-in dates) in the admin area to run the service.

No online service is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.

Other people's details

If you enter someone else's birth details, for example for a compatibility reading, they are used to calculate that reading and are sent to the AI provider like your own. Only do this with details you are comfortable sharing.

Age

Nakshatra is for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a younger person has signed up, email us and we will delete the account.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and its date. For significant changes we will also tell signed-in users in the app or by email.
